The Corner Store

D: Summer evenings. The warmth, the energy, the sense of new found freedom given to us by the brightness and energy from the ever luminescent sun. Our summer evening the other day included the amazing company of our friends, Damon and Amy. We all came together for a Sunday dinner full of laughs and stories and a quick run by the nearby abandoned red door store, known for its eeriness blanked by a subtle sweet sense of beauty...
Amy paired a beautiful black chiffon blouse with a shirley pink ruffled skirt, while Damon color blocked with neutral wine and olive green tones. A perfect blend with the vast fields that surrounded the ever so desolate corner store.
D: Wearing my crocheted black cropped top I purchased a while back from Nasty Gal with my American Apparel sheer skirt, topped off with my trusty olive green ankle boots.
I: Wearing white American Apparel high waisted jean skirt with a multicolored thrifted blouse, that reflected the suns rays in the most perfect way.
Hope everyone had a great day!

Minty Obsession

D: Hello everyone! I do apologize for the complete lack of posting. We've all been so busy with different projects, along with traveling and finals of course. I assure you that from now on we will try our best to post as frequently as possible. As you all know, its summer time and this season is all about the pastel colors and clean cut look. I personally, am so in love with the minty pastel colors that are popping up everywhere in many designer collections. So to give you some inspiration I put together some pieces that you might find will get you a little obsessed with the color as I am. Enjoy :)

Somebody That I Used to Know

Dramatic Silhouettes

I: If there's one thing I love about fashion, it's the constantly changing rules surrounding the latest styles of a woman's silhouette. In the last couple decades, larger, bulky outerwear up-top with slim, tight-fitting bottoms has been quite trendy: I myself am a huge fan of oversized, cropped jackets. Today's post showcases a little of how to make this dramatic look in to more of an everyday outfit.

I picked up this amazing coat at the thrift awhile back, and I've been waiting for the perfect outfit to wear it with. Finally, on a particularly icy Sunday, I threw on an outfit that was missing something...something like faux fur. I paired very classic, plain pieces together, and kept the layering light so that the jacket would be the center of attention. To compliment its rich color, I added a warm orange turban and some berry toned lipstick, along with silver jewelry. I think I was definitely going for an Erykah Badu vibe here with the platforms!
I: Wearing Vintage Fur jacket, Pashmina Scarf as turban, Mexican Silver & Amber Cuff [eBay], Linen Button Up [vintage], Light Wash Denim Vest [Zara], High Waisted Skinny Jeans [BDG], Velvet Platform Boots [Deena & Ozzy]
My lovely friend Jackie rocked one of my favorite vintage jackets with a similar silhouette (it suited the weather perfectly). I really loved her choice in mixing the floral and herringbone patterns, but keeping a mostly dark, high contrast color palette. I think it's a first class example of a cute, warm winter outfit.
