Sin City

C: This past weekend my little brother's football team had their first game of the season in Las Vegas, Nevada. I of course saw this as the perfect opportunity to get out of town and bask in more heavy sunlight before summer ends. Wearing my favorite DIY camo vest, Asos slash-back leotard and American Apparel high-waisted leggings.
Gorgeous Italian restaurant we ate at on our first night in Vegas.
In what other city can you be in Paris at night and New York in the morning!? (Someday I'll mean this literally).
Wearing American Apparel bandeau, Forever 21 sheer blouse, Burberry bag, and my favorite new vintage sandals. I wish I knew who made them!
When we werent psyching our brother out for his game, my sister and I spent most of our time wandering the strip, hoping from hotel to hotel, and traveling to the surrounding Nevada mountains (which by the way are absolutely GORGEOUS).

Currently listening to Fortune:Little Dragon on repeat. Thinking about how this amazing summer has come to an end, and how much my life is about to change in the next few Fall months going into Winter. Im excited and nervous...but more excited than anything else.

Hope you enjoyed!

Georgie Bundle

I: A very belated post from after my Trinidad trip. I just wanted to show you guys a little of how I pack when I'm going on one of those extra short vacations.
Seeing as how this was a mini vacation, I packed rather lightly and planned out specific outfits to wear. I focused mainly on light, flowy fabrics, shorts, head wraps (the weather there will leave your hair a cotton-ballish mess) and tons of delicate jewelry.
I loved the girly silhouette of this pleated chiffon skirt, and in the fun tangerine color it was absolutely perfect for a trip to the tropics. The bold belt helped me somewhat alter the semi-pouffy shape of this light-wash denim vest (in this case used as a shirt) and create a more tailored fit. I finished off the outfit with a cute pair of lace-up leather sandals, and a beaded necklace. Can you tell how proud I was of this one ;)?
Hope everyone is still having a great summer! Enjoy it while the heat lasts.

Blueberries & Bellbottoms

C: Wanted to post a few shots from our trip to Adams Morgan this past Saturday. We stopped at one of our favorite vintage spots, Buffalo Exchange, to sell and buy, then went out for lunch and live reggae at Madams Organ. I was bad and had their specialty [buttermilk fried chicken!].
D: Wearing american apparel bellbottoms, asos crop top, steve madden sandals
C: Wearing akira tube dress, vintage everything else

Enjoy!

TRILLECTRO

C: I had the opportunity of covering the best music festival to grace the DMV in years this past Saturday.Trillectro, organized by DC to BC (whom I would like to refer to as pioneers from now on), provided a fusion of Hip-Hop and Electronica/Dubstep for close to 4,000 music lovers. The headliners, Los Angeles rapper ScHoolboy Q and Chicago DJ duo Flosstradamus, game-changers helping to usher in the new generation of music, were among some of the most promising emerging artists in the nation including Philly rappers GrandeMarshall and Asaad, 2012 Dubstep Music Awards honoree Khadafi Dub, and my personal favorite of the day, Body Language. The fusion of styles reflected what is prevalent in music today; the coming together of different cultures to make something no one has ever heard before. There is no arguing the fact that we NEEDED this. The underground music scene in the DMV community has been hiding in the iPods of local music enthusiasts and college students, until now.
When you walked into the venue, it was as if you had just stepped into a shipping yard that had been cleared by drunken college students to put on a mini-concert. It was raw, uninhibited, pure FUN. It was also nice to know that two supposedly different crowds of people could come together because they all had one thing in common; the love of music. What better than good music, good people and good art to get your blood flowing?

I got a lot of inspiration from all of the different styles mashed together into one place (however I could have gone without seeing every other male in camo...). I kept in simple in a Forever21 2-panel sheer dress vest I scored one lucky day at the mall. I paired it with my leather Urban Outfitters backpack and Steve Madden sneakers.
Seeing ScHoolboy Q perform was definitely one of the highlights of my summer. Glad I can tick that off my bucket list!
I know some of you are wondering the same thing I am; could this possibly be the east-coast Coachella? DCtoBC co-founder Modele “Modi” Oyewole is optimistic but realistic. “I think Trillectro is like a baby music festival,” he says to Complex, “I’ve been to raves, concerts, and a few festivals, and this was like a mini-taste of the big leagues. In reality, it’s nowhere near as awesome as a Coachella or a Lollapalooza, or at all good. But if we can get it anywhere close to there, I’d be proud of us.”

Something Cheetah, Something Blue

I: This is a little something I put together in honor of the upcoming fall season. I found this Cheetah print blazer at the thrift store- I must say it's one of the best finds I've ever had. Surprisingly, it's incredibly versatile and I find myself wearing it, perhaps a little more than I should. I love the thin material that shapes to my body despite the loose-fit.
I paired it with an equally loud mustard-colored sheer button up (also thrifted) and an American Apparel stretch twill white pencil skirt. I went out on a limb even more by choosing my blue suede boots, Tribal Print hand-me-down earrings, and a jewel-toned green clutch that was a gift from my loving Mama.
I've become a huge fan of meshing patterns and color-blocking lately- both particularly hot trends right now, and I've got to say I'm a fan. I hope you guys like the wildness of this outfit as much as I do!

Eryka Badu x Common

C: Yesterday was [D] 's birthday so the girls and I surprised her with tickets to the Eryka Badu and Common concert over at the Merriweather Post Pavilion. This was the first time any of us had ever seen Eryka or Common in concert and let me tell you, we were in heaven on earth. Common opened for Eryka (Did you guys know they used to date? I didn't and I feel like I'm the only one!) and of course killed it. He even brought a lucky girl on stage at one point and kissed her...as we all watched with something between horror and envy from afar. Eryka was beautiful. Its official - I love her live voice better than her recording voice. For me, that speaks volumes about great her musical talent is.
