Steel Grey

I: Hello hello! I noticed upon waking up that it was a beautiful, misleadingly sunny day out, so I decided it was the perfect opportunity for layering.
After running a couple errands this morning (including working on a juicy new idea for a later post that I know you all will love), I took a look at my closet and decided on this amazing grey knit that's been in my family for awhile. It's really light, but extremely warm if worn over something- so that's exactly what I did. I loved the rich color of this medium-wash thrifted denim button up underneath the washed out grey, and I've always loved the silhouette of a crew neck sweater with a neat little collared shirt underneath.
I loved how the draped vintage leather bomber, coupled with the cheetah print headscarf and blackberry lipstick gave this outfit a bit of an 80's punk vibe, while the collared shirt, chunky knit, and conservative skirt & tights soften it up nicely. At first, I thought to wear shorts, or a chiffon skirt and tuck in the sweater and button up- needless to say, it was Lump City. I had the idea to wear a tight pencil skirt, in this case, my trusty American Apparel charcoal colored zigzag (a remnant of my stint as a sales associate) fit the color palate perfectly. As I was reaching for a new pair of velvet platforms that I've been dying to wear, I realized that these thrifted, 90's chunky boots matched my lipstick perfectly and I was sold.
Have a nice Sunday, everyone!

Lotus Flower Bomb

I: Hello all! I recently attended a showcase, hosted by the flawless duo Mila & Fire of milafirevintage.com. I went out to support my favorite local designer, Aminah Muse of Yanghi, and her lovely muse Georgette. Amid the flashing pink lights of the Lotus Lounge and the dazzling crowd of fashionistas and fashionistos selling, buying, and just mingling, I must admit that I felt like some kind of socialite. Needless to say, I fell instantly in love with everything and everyone. Here are some snapshots from the night, to give you a feel of what I mean.
Aminah herself- exotic as always!
Yanghi's little selling station, complete with a slideshow of the beautiful Georgette. My two personal favorites were a dyed lace vintage wedding dress and a reconstructed tribal print button up (pictured above). Of course, I was drooling for them, but didn't have an extra dime to spare.
More lights, and a couple gasps later, George (pictured below) and I stumbled upon another brilliant booth owned by The GoldDiggers. I was pleased to find that they're having a sale this coming Monday, at which I will definitely be spending more than I can afford to spend.
When I said that I couldn't resist buying at least something, I really meant it! I found myself rushing to an ATM to get this incredible colorful sweater for an incredible $15 dollars from the Rags to Riches booth. Let me just say that they are two of the sweetest, most down to earth girls, and that their wares are both affordable and super cute.
Unfortunately, my camera's battery decided to die before I could get a picture of myself at the event, but when I got home, I just snapped a couple pictures of my outfit.
Wore a Vintage Leather Jacket, Turquoise Earrings (gifted), Vintage Goldenrod Button-Up, American Apparel Harem Pants, Vintage Belt, Deena and Ozzy Snakeskin Booties, Tribal Print DIY Headband and Chaps Menswear Socks

I: Hello all! Happy New Year- I hope you all had an incredible night, and I hope 2012 brings everyone loads of happiness. My New Year's Eve was spent surrounded by friends, glamour, and of course, the necessary bubbly. Here are some quick snapshots of the night's debauchery.
