Vino sur mes Lèvres

This was taken after I had just gotten back from work last night, so please excuse my tired appearance. The only reason I'm sad winter is coming to a close is because I won't be able to wear my favorite dark lipstick anymore - nevertheless I'll probably still whip it out from time to time anyway. This combination lasts all day, even after I eat! Doesn't it remind you of the perfect red wine?
I used Mac Cosmetics Night Moth to line my lips and Revlon's Black Cherry to fill them in.

Le Sac

I'm in a random backpack phase right now. This leather one from Urban Outfitters is my favorite. It's been my little companion to work for the past week. You can find very similar ones here and here.
Expect to see my leather sac in my next outfit post! It needs to have its moment.

Boneface Killa

before night falls 1

I'm having a crisis. I've been asking  myself, why is it that I always feel like my outfits are missing something. And then it hit me; my closet is missing some very essential pieces. Now, while its not entirely my fault (the woes of moving to a big city with a tiny budget) I feel like I need to be held accountable. My problem, if you want to call it that, is the fact that I am a sucker for those unique, heart-stopper pieces. Some of you may be thinking....well...isn't that the point of shopping? What is shopping without those treasure finds that unexpectedly reveal themselves when you're not paying attention.
While this is true, those 'treasure pieces' are nothing if you don't have the basics to back them up. What is a great graphic tee without a pair of acid wash or classic jeans? What is a great white shift dress without a classic black leather satchel to accompany it. Catch my drift?
I included a few of my favorite basic pieces above. An Alexander Wang satchel that would literally go with everything I own, the perfect Kate Spade gold hoops, and effortlessly sexy Giuseppe Zanotti black sandals.

Brooklyn Flea

First post from my new computer! Feels good to have such a large screen to work off of now.
Keeping along with the "1st's" theme, I went to the Brooklyn Flea market for the first time this Saturday. It felt like I was in a dream world. Being around art and vintage anything is one of the places I feel most comfortable. I can already tell the Brooklyn Flea is going to be one of my home-away-from-home's.

My eyes look closed, but trust me they're not. Blame the sun that finally decided to grace the city.

Its Here...

The iMac I've literally been dreaming about for the past 2 years is finally here! Is it dramatic to say that I feel like this is going to change my life? Gone are the days of jumping from computer to computer just to make a simple post. I have a lot of work to do configuring everything the way I want it to be so my posting this week is going to be very scarce. Bare with me! This is all for the good of...well...everything.

In the meantime - I thought I would take a little personal time to talk about a journey I'm getting ready to take. Yoga. It's been something that has been in the back of my mind for years. Throughout the past recent months of November through January my sister would have to force me to practice it with her in our basement every week. After each session I felt sore but great. I wanted to keep going, to get better, but something held me back each and every time I would try. My diagnosis: the fear of pain, of shame and disappointment, but perhaps also the fear of pure happiness. I'm not even sure I know what that means yet. What I do know is I want to find out. I want to stop criticizing my body and instead start nurturing it, loving it and helping it grow. I've needed this for a long time, and I'm finally getting the courage to step out of my comfort zone, join a yoga class and delve into the unknown.

Amazing isn't she? Briohny Smyth is a huge part of the reason I decided to embark on my personal yoga journey. Her strength and power (all packed into that tiny body!) are so inspiring to me. She's battled eating disorders, drug addictions and negative self-image among other things, and started using yoga as a method of self-care when she was 13 years old. She now owns her own yoga studio in Los Angeles with her fellow yogi husband Dice Iida Klein. In other words, yoga saved her life.

Throughout all the articles I've read there are many constant themes but one that sticks out to me in particular. Yoga is for everyone, meaning that literally anybody can do it. You can't say that about many things in this life. I love the openness and acceptance of the yoga culture and the yogi's that practice it. I strive for that acceptance; acceptance of my family, acceptance of my faith, acceptance of my friends, acceptance of the people I don't know yet, and most importantly acceptance of myself.

Footwear Alert

Highlighting some more of my favorite footwear for the spring season and where you can purchase them! Scroll through the pictures to find your favorites. If you can't tell I'm a little obsessed with shoes at the moment...

The Open-Toed Sandal

This is the shoe I am definitely most excited to wear in the spring. It’s extremely versatile and can be worn with destroyed jeans, a pencil skirt, a flowy skater skirt, a pair of riding pants...I mean the list goes on and on.

The Spring Boot

Some of us aren’t quite ready to let go of our boots by the time winter is over and spring rolls around, hence, the spring boot. Really great for transitioning. You want to keep the boots nice and short, lest you look like you're weather-confused, and no one wants that.

The Statement Pump

This spring we're going to see a lot of ethereal and soft colors in our clothing. The statement pump is a way to make these subdued outfits POP. Perfect for the flirty sundresses we all love to wear from time to time.

The Wedge

Pretty much goes without saying. In my opinion, the wedge is perfect in any season.

The Sneaker

We all like to tone it down every once in a while, but who says we have to be boring about it? Sneakers are definitely my second favorite type of spring shoe. The styles are getting funkier and funkier now that many designers are putting out their own take on the sneaker. You have a world of options so don't be shy ;).
